Granada colleagues break down in tears as they remember 'humble, kind and funny' presenter Tony Morris

Granada colleagues have paid tribute to Tony Morris during an emotional special programme.

Long-time co-worker Lucy Meacock broke down in tears as she spoke of her "very special bond” with the presenter, who died aged just 57-years-old on Saturday morning.

Mr Morris passed away surrounded by friends and family in Bury Hospice after being diagnosed with kidney cancer last year.

He had presented Granada Reports, ITV's North West news programme, for 17 years and continued to appear on the programmed until just a few weeks ago.

Mr Morris' longtime Granada co-presenter, Lucy Meacock, tonight paid tribute to her colleague, who she described as one of the most “humble, kindest, funniest people you could ever meet”.

She said: “He was always interested in other people, always interested in our guests that came into the studio and it was a very special bond that we had. We knew each other very well.

“I think it was a great partnership.”

ITV correspondent Paul Crone also paid tribute to his colleague, describing him as a “wicked, wicked sense of humour” who “never missed a trick”.

He said: “I can’t tell you how kind and caring he was. But you could get him to laugh way, way too easy.”

Mr Morris’ daughter Natalie has shared a touching tribute to her father, calling him her 'best friend'.

She tweeted: "We lost our incredible dad on Saturday morning.

"He was more than a parent, he was also our best friend. We are utterly heartbroken, but so grateful for the time we had with him."
