Gran's savage reaction to 'ugly' baby before realising she's 'FaceTiming parents'

A gran was caught in a viral prank after she grimaced at an "ugly" baby photo - before being tricked that it's a video call with the parents.

Stewart McGonigle showed a picture of the baby to his unsuspecting gran while she carries out tasks in the kitchen.

Stewart walks into the room to ask her to take a look at the photo of the so-called newborn.

He says: “Oh nan look, Annie had a wean.”

The elderly woman is then taken completely by surprise before grimacing at the picture. She responds: “Did she? Oh god!

Stewart then claims that her reaction has been caught by someone on the other end over FaceTime, Daily Record reports.

Needless to say, she immediately changes her reaction in light of this information.

“She’s a nice wee wean int she?” She remarks.

The prankster then notes ‘she’ is actually a boy - but the gran has clearly had enough by this point and asks Stewart to get the camera away from her face.

“Aye she’s…I’m dain somethin Stewart take it away”, she later says.

More than 14,000 people have liked the viral clip.

The clip has been shared thousands of times, with dozens of TikTok users showing their appreciation for the incredible patter.

One person wrote: “I’m a midwife and this is absolutely hilarious.”

Another said: “I think I’ve watched this 20 times and I am howling.”

The 'Ugly Baby Prank' is the latest trend to take the video app by storm in recent weeks.

It involves showing a friend or family member a picture of an ‘ugly baby’ and pretend that it belongs to someone close in their life.

Hundreds of people across the world have taken up the challenge, much to the bemusement of punters across a number of social media platforms.
