Gran and girl, 6, kicked out of hotel mid-stay 'after leaving scathing review'

A grandmother claims she was kicked out of a hotel in the middle of the night after leaving a scathing review online.

The 63-year-old said she and her granddaughter, 6, were forced to walk to another hotel in their pyjamas.

Susan Leger was on the first of a three-night stay at the Baymont Inn & Suites in the town of Helen, Georgia in September when she says she received a call from the hotel manager telling her she had to leave.

That call allegedly came soon after she was asked to leave a review following her check in, in which she called the property 'run down.'

She was also said to have complained that the toilet in her room didn't flush properly and the pool was shut, say reports.

She said police turned up to remove her and her six-year-old grandchild, writing in a report that management had wanted he to leave due to giving 'the hotel a bad review.'

Speaking to WXIA she said: "My granddaughter's like clinging to my leg and crying so hard. This was scary. This was just horrifying.

"The man is screaming at me. He was saying, "You get out now. I call the police."

She says the manager told her: 'You get out … You lie, you lie. You gave me bad review.'

She added: "And I'm just sitting there going, "Oh my gosh, is this a prank call?'"

The woman was said to have given the hotel three stars out of five, claiming the accommodation was 'rundown' adding: "Pool’s not open. Toilet doesn’t flush well."

She was unaware that reviews were forwarded to management during a guest's stay.

She added: "So, the only way to keep the room, in my mind, is not to have answered Hotels.com's request.

"If you don’t want to be walking in your pyjamas with your six-year-old granddaughter, don’t leave a review if you’re currently still at the place."

In an interview the hotel manager, Danny Vyas, said that the woman had complained several times.

He said: "They called me at least 10, 11 times in maybe one hour. Sink is not working. Everything is not right."

Officers were said to have helped the pair find another hotel nearby.

A spokesperson for Hotels.com said: "Hotels.com has a zero-tolerance policy regarding retaliation and we will remove any guests, hosts and/or properties from our website who exhibit or promote such behavior in-stay or offline.

"We have temporarily removed this property from our sites while we conduct an investigation to determine the appropriate next steps."
