During the Recording Academy’s Premiere Ceremony on Sunday evening, several notable artists and industry professionals were recognized for their outstanding work. Songwriter and producer Justin Tranter kicked off the event by announcing the winners of various categories.
Some of the big winners included Sabrina Carpenter, who took home the award for best pop solo performance for her song 'Espresso' and also won best remixed recording for 'Espresso (Mark Ronson x FNZ Working Late Remix)'. Charli XCX was honored with best dance pop recording for 'Von Dutch' and best dance/electronic album for 'BRAT'.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar received accolades for best rap song with 'Not Like Us' and best music video for the same track. Comedian Dave Chappelle's 'The Dreamer' was named the best comedy album, while Jon Batiste's 'American Symphony' won best music film.
The Rolling Stones were recognized for best rock album with 'Hackney Diamonds', and Gillian Welch & David Rawlings won best folk album for 'Woodland'. Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus's collaboration 'II Most Wanted' was awarded best country duo/group performance.
Legendary band The Beatles secured the best rock performance award for 'Now and Then', and former President Jimmy Carter won in the category of best audio book, narration, and storytelling recording for 'Last Sundays in Plains: A Centennial Celebration'.
Other winners included Sheila E. featuring Gloria Estefan and Mimy Succar for best global music performance with 'Bemba Colorá', and Daniel Nigro was named producer of the year (non-classical) while Amy Allen received the title of songwriter of the year (non-classical).
