Sam Smith has won best new artist at the 2015 Grammys. The soul singer beat Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Brandy Clark and Haim in the category at the 57th Grammy Awards at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
Hertfordshire-born Smith’s big break came more than a year ago, as a guest vocalist on Disclosure’s Latch, before he won the Brits Critics Choice award in 2014. In The Lonely Hour was a vast hit on both sides of the Atlantic following its release in May.
