Grainne Seoige dropped from GAA show Up for the Match after 11 years on RTE programme

Grainne Seoige has been dropped from Up for the Match after more than a decade on the show.

The stunning TV presenter has been replaced by sports reporter Jacqui Hurley ahead of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling and Football Championship finals in Croke Park this summer.

While Grainne is leaving the annual sports programme, it has been confirmed that Des Cahill will be returning once again to continue his most famous role, RSVP Live reports.

After Jacqui was announced in the new post, she said that he is very excited to be working with Des:  "It will be myself and Des (Cahill). We're mates but I've never presented with him before."

She told the  RTE  Guide: "Fortunately, he's an old hand at the show which is great because this is totally new to me. Like me, Des is also a bit of a messer.

"When I do the sports news on the telly it is very serious but I'm not that serious at all.

"On radio or with the quiz show (Know the Score) or even Up for the Match you get to have a bit more craic."

Grainne first joined Up for the Match in 2008 where she replaced Mary Kennedy in the last shake-up of the show.

Des was announced as co-presenter in 2005. Liam Ó Murchú and Michael Lyster previously hosted the show over the past 30 years.
