Model Grainne Gallanagh admitted she was nervous to return to work as a nurse for the first time in months to help Ireland’s Covid 19 battle.
But the stunning former Miss Universe Ireland, who finished as a finalist in this year’s Dancing with the Stars, said she was also excited to do her bit.
The Donegal native, who has been isolating with her family in her home house in Buncrana said: “So Monday is actually my first day at the hospital.
“And it will be my first day back as a nurse in like 8 months.
“And I am getting nervous. I’d be lying if i said I wasn’t. I’m nervous for loads of things.”
Grainne, 25, worked in a women’s healthcare clinic in London before taking a break to pursue her modelling and TV work in recent years.
But signing up to re-register with the HSE after the government’s call to arms, she added: “I’m nervous because I haven’t worked in Ireland since I qualified.
“And I think anyone would be nervous going back to work with everything going on at the minute.
“I’m just starting to get that feeling in my belly, you know when you are going to do something that you are scared of.”
Grainne said she has been enjoying her quality time at home with her family in her native county, while she waited for her healthcare paperwork to be finalised.
She added: “But I’m sure it will be fine, there are obviously loads of essential workers out doing a brilliant job and i’m excited that I’m able to do something.
“And I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, just feel a wee bit nervous because it’s my first day.”
