POPULAR craft beer cafe the Grain Store closed temporarily on Sunday night to "re-set" in the tumultuous economic climate of COVID-19.
Since the introduction of laws banning customers from pubs and clubs a fortnight ago the Newcastle East business has been offering takeaway food and beer growler refills.
However, adjusting to the enforced changes has taken a toll on the small business. On Sunday the Grain Store announced on social media it would be closing until April 16 to give staff a breather and a chance to spend time with their families.
"We are not saying farewell, but simply see you soon," the post read.
"We are going to have a bit of a re-set to allow everything to sink in, spend some time with those dearest to us and come back to serve you all with positive vibes and embrace what is now our new normal. It also allows time for the dust to settle on government initiatives and the structures they are finalising, to enable businesses like us to survive."
