Graham Potter makes Ben White prediction for Arsenal following Brighton transfer exit

Brighton head coach Graham Potter thinks that Ben White will succeed at Arsenal.

The 23-year-old defender will line-up against his old club today in what will be his first appearance against them since he completed his £50million move to the Emirates in the summer.

White has bounced back from a difficult debut against Brentford on the opening day of the season and has forged a promising partnership with fellow central defender, Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Gunners have turned around their early season mishaps with two solid defensive performances against Norwich and Burnley, as well as a convincing 3-1 win in last weekend’s north London derby.

Positively, White’s former boss thinks that he’ll go onto succeed in the game.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Potter said: "Whenever you move club, it’s not a straightforward situation. As much as we’d like to, it’s not so easy to hit the ground running.

"I think that Arsenal, as a team, had a tough game against Brentford as the first game of the season and they had lots of issues in terms of Covid, etc etc. So, not the perfect situation for him, but Ben’s a resilient character.

"He’s a fantastic footballer and a great guy - we all love him here. So, apart from obviously this weekend, we wish him well. And I’m sure he will do well."

Potter continued by suggesting that the transfer was a good deal for all parties as Brighton received a big fee for him whilst White got the chance to move to one of England’s biggest clubs.

Nevertheless, although Potter wants White to do well in the future, he’ll secretly be hoping that he makes a mistake or two at the AmEx Stadium.
