Graham Potter gives update on Yves Bissouma future amid Manchester United links

Brighton manager Graham Potter insists that they are in no rush to sell midfielder Yves Bissouma after links with Manchester United.

The midfield position is one that sees a number of players linked with moves to Old Trafford after their failed attempts to acquire a defensive midfielder in the summer.

Declan Rice and Amadou Haidara are two central midfielders that the Reds have been intensely linked with as Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard look set to leave at the end of the season.

United are said to be one of the number of clubs eyeing the Mali international with Liverpool and Man City also in the hunt but the Seagulls boss is confident he can keep him at the AMEX Stadium.

"I'm confident [of keeping Bissouma]," the 46-year-old said.

"I think Yves is enjoying his football here but with the transfer window, you never know. You always plan for something you can't necessarily foresee. We're in a good place. We'll see."

Recent reports suggest that Aston Villa are exploring the possibility of signing the 25-year-old, with his valuation said to be in excess of £40m.

West Ham captain Rice has been linked with United, who have earmarked him as a midfield priority in the summer, the Manchester Evening News understands.

While RB Leipzig midfielder Haidara has emerged as a player of interest since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, after the pair worked together in Germany.
