Graham Potter gives injury update on key player ahead of Crystal Palace vs Brighton

Brighton manager Graham Potter has given an injury update on midfielder Yves Bissouma after he was substituted during the second half of the team's win over Leicester City on Saturday.

The Malian international picked up a knock in the first half of the game but stayed on the pitch until the 79th minute when he was replaced by Jakub Moder.

Immediately after the match, Potter revealed that Bissouma had extended his knee, and said that he was wary of fatigue in the latter stages of the game - hence the substitution.

Bissouma has been one of Brighton's standout players over the last 12 months, and earlier this month said his mindset was that he was the best midfielder currently playing in the Premier League.

He would be a big miss for Brighton ahead of their match against Crystal Palace next Monday, but the Seagulls manager said he was hopeful that he would return in time for the game.

Speaking ahead of his side's League Cup match against Swansea City on Wednesday night, Potter said: "Yves is recovering quite well, we're hopeful that he'll train at the end of the week.

"We're hopeful he will play against Crystal Palace on Monday."

He added that there were no other fresh injury concerns ahead of their game on Wednesday, though Adam Webster (hamstring) would not be available.

Patrick Vieira, meanwhile, might have Jeffrey Schlupp available for the visit of the Seagulls after returning to training on Monday. The versatile midfielder missed Palace's last two Premier League games with a hamstring injury picked up on international duty with Ghana.

Eberechi Eze gave a promising update on his Achilles ankle injury this week and shared footage of him jogging at Palace's training ground, though both he and Nathan Ferguson are still not fit for selection.
