Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has confirmed key defender Adam Webster will miss this weekend’s trip to Newcastle United. It was suggested that Webster had a chance of being available for the clash at St. James’ Park, however he has suffered setback in his recovery from a groin problem and now may not return until after the international break later this month.
Brighton have struggled in his absence in recent weeks - with the core of their back three from their successful first half of the season torn apart due to his injury and Dan Burn ’s Newcastle move. Potter is also expected to make a late decision on midfielder Adam Lallana, who missed last week’s 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa.
The 46-year-old confirmed that he is making ‘good progress’ and will train on Friday but is unclear whether he will be involved in the squad for the trip to the Northeast.

Via quotes from Sussex Live, he said: "Lallana felt his hamstring in the week. We will see how he goes for Newcastle. It was only a small one but enough to miss this game. Adam Webster has had a little setback with his [groin] injury. So again, we will see how he goes this week but looking unlikely for Newcastle."
Elsewhere, Jeremy Sarmiento has returned to training and is in contention to play after overcoming a hamstring that has kept him out since December. Enock Mwepu, though, is unlikely to feature after being ill following a hamstring injury, which Potter admits has been difficult for the 24-year-old.
He said: “He’s been frustrated, and I feel for him. He’ll train with the group tomorrow. I think it’s a little bit doubtful [for the weekend] but it’s fantastic to have him back.”
