Graham Potter asks Chelsea for three Brighton staff members in trusted assistants and transfer specialist

Graham Potter has asked for three members of his Brighton backroom staff to join him at Chelsea.

The 47-year-old had a face-to-face meeting with Blues co-owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly, where he laid out his plans for the future.

Kyle Macaulay, a recruitment analyst, is one member of staff that Potter has asked to take to Stamford Bridge, with the former Aberdeen forward having helped him with transfers throughout his managerial career to date at Ostersund, Swansea and Brighton.

Potter likes to focus on coaching and Macaulay would act as a buffer on transfers, discussing targets within the club’s recruitment structure.

The Seagulls boss also wants his two trusted assistants Billy Reid and Bjorn Hamberg to join him, seeing them as both colleagues and close friends.

Both Reid and Hamberg have followed Potter on his coaching journey from Sweden to Wales and back to England.

The trio would replace Thomas Tuchel and his departed assistants Zsolt Low and Arno Michels, with analyst Beni Weber also leaving Chelsea after the German’s sacking.

Chelsea are expected to complete their deal for Potter within the next 24 hours after verbally agreeing terms on Thursday.
