Graham Norton mocks 'flat' Eurovision singers as fans say commentary 'worth two-year wait'

Eurovision 2021 viewers said Graham Norton's digs at the finalists were "worth the wait" as he got back to his commentary of the contest on Saturday night.

The show host was initially emotional about it being back after two long years away, with viewers also feeling teary.

But it wasn't long before the presenter was back with his hilarious comments and swipes at those taking part - and first off, he took aim at some of the vocalists.

While he said there were some great singers on the way, he quickly added there were some pretty "flat" singers too as a warning to fans tuning in.

Eurovision made its defiant return on Saturday night, a year on from it being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2021 finale was held live from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, who won back in 2019, and everyone was ready for things to begin.

But viewers were immediately in hysterics over Graham's remarks, with many admitting it was worth the two-year wait.

Graham commented right at the start of the show: "There were 39 countries but happily 13 were eliminated.

"We’ve got a real range of music tonight... some wonderful vocalists and well, some as flat as Holland."

Racing to Twitter, viewers reacted to his return and his one-liners, saying it was the best thing about the show coming back.

One viewer tweeted: "God I love you Graham Norton. I've missed this so much."

Another agreed: "One minute in and Graham Norton's commentary is already worth the two year wait."

A third added: "When Graham Norton can't even keep it together, you know it's going to be bad."

Meanwhile another said: "Graham Norton's comments are everything."

The live final of Eurovision 2021 airs all evening on BBC One.
