Graham Geraghty talking and 'overwhelmed with the support' following operation

Graham Geraghty is said to be talking and 'overwhelmed with the support' after undergoing a major operation.

The Meath GAA great, 47, took ill earlier last week before undergoing an operation in Beaumont Hospital.

Providing an update on his health, his wife Amanda posted on Facebook on Monday morning: "Just to let everyone know that Graham is talking and although he is still in a lot of pain and still very sick he is overwhelmed with the support and good wishes yesterday the first thing he asked was 'are Meath playing today' please god in a few short months he will be standing on the sidelines at a game."

There was relief last Thursday when news of Geraghty's successful operation broke, with Meath GAA tweeting: "Some good news!!!

While Geraghty's club Clann na nGael said:  "Some good news!!! The @Club_na_Mi community are delighted to hear that Graham Geraghty has come out of his operation which went successfully. Best wishes from all of us with your recovery. #GAABelong"

The Royals icon won two All-Ireland senior football titles in a stellar career with Meath, as well as three Leinster titles, and won two All-Star awards and messages of support have poured in from team-mates and former rivals alike.
