Graham Geraghty set for Meath role as he bounces back from life-saving surgery

Graham Geraghty is reportedly set for a new role with Meath just three months after the Royals legend underwent life-saving surgery.

The Meath great took ill in late October before undergoing an operation in Beaumont Hospital and his wife Amanda revealed recently that he is expected to make a full recovery.

Geraghty, 47, is expected to form part of a Meath Under-20 backroom team that will be led by Royals star Bernard Flynn. Mayo Ladies boss Peter Leahy is also tipped to become part of the setup.

The Under-20 provincial championships are scheduled to start in March with a return to training currently slated for February 5.

Posting on Facebook in November, Amanda Geraghty wrote: "Just to let everyone know Graham has surpassed everyone’s expectations and his recovery is going really well he is coherent and talking and has taken a few steps he still has a long road ahead of him and he wants to thank everyone for all their prayers acts of kindness to myself and his children and well wishes."

And in a Christmas message, she posted: "Happy Christmas to everyone of our friends and family here and abroad.

"Today is a very special day for us as today we will celebrate our best Christmas ever as Graham is on the road to making a full recovery.

"Recently I asked him what he would like for Christmas and he said I just want to be well again and by some miracle he’s getting his wish and please god in a few months time he will be able to go back to work."
