Graham Geraghty's club shares positive update on Meath legend's operation

Graham Geraghty's club Clann na nGael tweeted a positive update on the Meath legend after he was hospitalised yesterday.

Geraghty, 47, underwent an operation in Beaumont Hospital this morning and his club tweeted this evening, saying: "Delighted to hear that Graham Geraghty has come out of his operation which went successfully! Best wishes with your recovery!"

Meath GAA have since followed up that statement confirming the news of the successful operation.

The official Meath account tweeted: "Some good news!!! The @Club_na_Mi community are delighted to hear that Graham Geraghty has come out of his operation which went successfully. Best wishes from all of us with your recovery. #GAABelong"

The GAA community had rallied around the former Royals ace, with former team-mate Bernard Flynn among those to wish Geraghty well.

"The football community are wishing Graham well, he's in Beaumont at the moment," said Flynn.

"The amount of good wishes that myself and other friends of Graham have received on his behalf is overwhelming. It's a time now for his family.

"We roomed together for the Ireland v England game for two nights in February, and the fun and craic we had, and we've had a few meet ups since.

"All our prayers are with Graham, Amanda and their kids."

Dublin GAA legend Bernard Brogan commented: "Wishing Graham a speedy recovery! Top man and legend of our game."

Armagh All-Ireland winner and SDLP MLA Justin McNulty tweeted: "Best wishes to Graham Geraghty and praying for a speedy recovery of a warrior Gael."

Sinn Fein TD for Meath West Johnny Guirke said: "Wishing Graham Geraghty a speedy recovery, a warrior on the pitch for Meath, a leader and great community man. Our thoughts are with Amanda and family at this time."

Father-of-four Geraghy won two All-Ireland medals in a glittering career with Meath and also captured two All-Star awards.
