Graham Coughlan on the amount of interest Bristol Rovers star Jonson Clarke-Harris is generating

Graham Coughlan says Bristol Rovers must be doing something right if Jonson Clarke-Harris is attracting interest.

The Gas star has been in stunning form since joining on transfer deadline day, netting nine goals in 11 appearances.

It has led to reports in the national press that Championship clubs are starting to keep tabs on the forward - although Bristol Live understands that he is tied down to a long-term contract and the Gas are confident of keeping him.

"I don't read the papers, I don't go on the internet and I don't listen to the radio," laughed Coughlan when asked about the paper talk around the striker.

"Good players will always get good press, so we must be doing something right, he must be doing something right and the team must be doing something right.

"The club must be doing something right if people are talking about us."

Clarke-Harris faces former club Coventry City on Sunday, but Coughlan emphasised that it is a team game and numerous Rovers players have grabbed attention over the course of the season.

How journeyman Jonson Clarke-Harris finally found a home at Bristol Rovers

He said: "This dressing room is honest, it's hard working and they enjoy themselves.

"They get a lot of coaching, they do work their socks off. They have a lot of passion and a lot of pride, it's a dressing room that wants to do well.

"Jonson fits into that, he's in that category, which is obviously why I wanted to sign him.

"I wanted to sign him for a long time, that's why I took him to Southend as I know what he's like.

"Not only the big man, though, this is a team game, it's a club game, it's a group and a squad game.

"I don't like overemphasising on one individual but, at the end of the day, he's getting a bit of headlines at the minute.

"It was Jack Bonham, Tom Lockyer and Tony Craig earlier in the season, so every player in that changing room has had a bit of headlines.

"I can remember Ollie Clarke going on a scoring streak as well, so they've all had their headlines and their bits and pieces.

"Now it's just putting the final touches to it and finishing the job off, bur I don't like, and I won't and I never will, overemphasise individual accolades or individual awards in a team game.

"Without Jonson, the team is nothing; without the team, Jonson is nothing.

"Let's focus on the group, on the squad, rather than any individual."
