Graham Burke set to join Shamrock Rovers on permanent basis

Graham Burke will stay with Shamrock Rovers for at least the next three seasons.

The Hoops today agreed a pre-contract with the forward for when his Preston North End contract expires in May.

Ireland international Burke, 27, quickly endeared himself to Rovers fans when he joined the club in 2017 after spells with Aston Villa and Notts County.

Championship side Preston then signed him for €300,000 in the summer of 2018, but he was loaned to Gillingham six months later.

But Burke was keen to return to Dublin and rejoined the Hoops on loan during their European campaign in 2019 and has been an integral part of the side ever since.

The champions were always confident that he would sign back for them on a permanent deal once his Preston contract expired.

Burke, who has two caps and one goal for Ireland, was a late call-up for last November's Nations League clash against Bulgaria.

Ireland boss Stephen Kenny said last week: "Graham is a unique player and quite talented."
