Graham Burke scores from halfway line as Shamrock Rovers lead Derry City

Graham Burke sensationally found the net from the halfway line to give Shamrock Rovers a 2-0 half-time lead against Derry City tonight.

The 27-year-old, having battled to win possession in the middle of the pitch, let fly from just inside the opposition half.

And his audacious effort sailed over the head of Derry keeper Nathan Gartside and into the net at the Brandywell.

The goal of the season contender has put Rovers 2-0 up at half-time after Rory Gaffney scored from close range in the 34th minute after a Burke effort was saved by Gartside.

Reigning champions Rovers have picked up eight points from their four League matches to date, while Derry City are still looking for their first win of the season.
