Colin Spence is praying frontman Graham Boyd can finally reignite his Irvine Meadow career after capping his first 90 minutes in three years with a goal.
The 29-year-old has endured a nightmare run of injuries, health scares and ill-fated comebacks since October 2018.
Now co-boss Spence is hoping the fact Boyd came through last weekend's 4-0 win against Saltcoats – on a quagmire of a pitch – can give him the confidence to kick on.
He said: “When you come back from long-term injuries, the mental side of things can often be the hardest part to deal with, particularly when you’ve had a couple of setbacks along the way.
“For Boydy to get through the game unscathed and get a goal will hopefully give him a massive psychological boost.
“He deserved his place in the team on Saturday – it wasn’t just a case of throwing him in.
“We were quite keen to see him because he has looked sharp in training.
“We’re really hopeful he can stay injury free now because he can be a big asset to the team going forward."
