Graham Alexander open to SPFL return as former Motherwell boss 'keeping his options open'

Graham Alexander says he's open to taking another SPFL job as soon as the chance arises after leaving Motherwell. But he's not ruling out a return to England either as he "keeps his options open."

Alexander was the first boss in Scotland to face the sack this season after the Steelmen crashed out of the Europa Conference League against Sligo Rovers in July. They went on to win four of their first five games under Stevie Hammell.

For Alexander, he revealed he's taken some time out to spend with his family in Loch Lomond and watch football as a fan again. But he admits he's itching to get back in and is just waiting for an opportunity - whether that comes in Scotland or back down south, where he managed Salford City before taking the Fir Park job.

He told talkSPORT : "Obviously I left Motherwell just before the league season started, so I'm currently out of work and waiting for the next opportunity. I'm just up and Loch Lomond at the moment with my wife and two dogs, just having a nice walk around there.

"It's a beautiful place, so I'm still based up in Scotland but I've still got my options open about coming back down south, where obviously I've managed before, or staying up in Scotland. It's par the course really in this job that sometimes you are out, but when the next opportunity comes and you can take it, then hopefully we can get the success at the previous four clubs that we've managed.

"But it's one of those, I'm enjoying watching football from a sort of independent view, where the pressure isn't on your shoulders and you can actually enjoy a game of football. So that's quite unusual.
