Graham Alexander in Rangers offside claim as he delivers firm 'should see it' verdict to officials

Disappointed Graham Alexander insists Rangers goal against Motherwell should have been ruled out for offside.

Ibrox attacker Fashion Sakala beat the offside trap to latch on to Joe Aribo's flick on and put Steven Gerrard's men ahead.

However, the Steelmen would become the first side to take a point away from Govan this season as Kaiyne Woolery scrambled an equaliser into the net.

Alexander reckons it could have been more had whistler Steven MacLean and his linesman ruled out the Zambian's first goal for Rangers.

The Fir Park gaffer also felt a penalty should have been awarded by ref Walsh for a foul on Tony Watt.

When asked if he thought Sakala was offside on BBC Sportsound, Alexander said: "Yes, I think he is right in the centre of the goal and on the wrong side of our defender as we try to mark.

"We believe he is an offside position but you have got to trust the officials to get it right.

"I don't think there was any problem with catching up with play because it was a set-piece he was so he should see it.

"To be fair to my players, we are obviously a bit disappointed, but at half-time they focus and concentrate on the second half.

"Just before we could have scored and had a great chance, and I thought we could have had a penalty on Tony Watt as well.

"We always carried a threat in our attacking play."
