Grafton Street shop door smashed and dented after being rammed by vehicle in early hours of morning

A Grafton Street shop door was smashed and dented after being rammed by a vehicle in the early hours of the morning.

The North Face shop located near the middle of Grafton Street had its windows smashed and frame damaged, and was left with tape across its door today.

It is understood to have happened at around 5.30am this morning, and is not believed to have been connected to an attempted burglary.

One onlooker, who lives nearby and was out for their daily walk, said a number of garda vehicles including a van and two unmarked cars were at the scene this morning carrying out an investigation.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a retail premises in the Grafton Street area at approximately 5:30am on 5/4/20.

"The front of the premises has been damaged, which from initial enquiries, appears to have been caused by a vehicle.

"No burglary element at this stage. Investigations are ongoing."
