Irish musical sensation Hozier made a young busker's week giving him his seal of approval as the up and coming artist sang 'Take Me to Church' on Grafton Street on Monday.
The surprise greeting stopped Dublin musician Martin McDonnell in his tracks as he sang the international superstar's song that shot him to fame in 2013.
In the video, 19-year-old Martin sings to a quiet Grafton Street in Dublin city centre outside Brown Thomas.
People are seen going about their day with some offering a tip to the young man as he played.
But one of the secret admirers was oddly familiar to McDonnell.
"I noticed his coat as he walked by because it was so cool," McDonnell told the Irish Mirror.
"He walked passed then came back and put the tip in and gave me a thumbs up and said 'That's good man',
"Then I copped it was him!"
Hozier, wearing a long grey coat, a peak cap and a face mask was there in the flesh as McDonnell sang his breathtaking words.
McDonnell was immediately taken aback and gasped: "Oh my God, no way."
He told the Mirror: “Couldn’t believe it was him!
“It’s my favourite song to sing and to have the man himself hear it and get his seal of approval was amazing.
“I shouted that was Hozier… and he turned and gave a thumbs up.
“I was on a high all day. Will be framing that note!”
Martin McDonnell is a young Irish singer who recently garnered some attention while playing a neighbourhood street singing session.
The young man’s street concert went viral with over 160,000 views on Twitter as he sang a song called ‘Lose’ after disappointing Leaving Cert results meant he couldn’t get into Music college.
Little did he know then about this magical moment with one of the nation’s most recognised musical talents.
McDonnell is bringing out a single called ‘Day by Day’ next month and is raising money for the Irish Cancer Society.
“It’s a letter to my mother really after she was diagnosed with cancer last Christmas.”
