Graeme Souness slaughters 'anti Rangers brigade' as euphoric Ibrox icons makes Glasgow return quip

Delighted Graeme Souness admits he was in Glasgow soaking up the celebrations after Rangers claimed a first title win in a decade.

But he also had a pointed message to perceived snipers of the club who feels stuck the boot in during their four-year top flight absence.

The former Rangers boss believes Sunday's title romp was vindication for detractors who have doubted his former club.

And Souness also had special praise for the club's supporters who are toasting Premiership success for the first time in 10 years.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said:“It’s been a long time coming. Celtic have had a period of domination which was, what I will say, uncomfortable for us Rangers supporters.

"They thoroughly deserve it, they’ve been fantastic all season and I just wish i was in Glasgow right now!

“Part of me wishes Celtic had won today so Rangers had to go to Parkhead being the in form team and winning it there which would have compounded Celtic’s problems.

“But I’ll take that today.

“They’ve been phenomenal so fair play to the players and the staff and I have to say, the Rangers support. In their history, they’ve never had a period like that which they’ve experienced in the last ten years.

“They were thrown out of the league - unfairly in my opinion - and all the anti-Rangers brigade that were coming out of the woodwork out there.

“When you’re in the third tier and you’ve got 50,000 people turning up to your stadium, that’s a proper support.”
