St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson has plenty of inspirational bosses to draw upon as he continues a solid debut season in the McDiarmid Park dugout.
But not, it transpires, Rangers legend Graeme Souness.
The man to kick-start the Nine In A Row era in Govan might have enjoyed a very successful career in Scotland and and down south.
However the Betfred Cup finalist insists he "didn't take anything" from his time under the no-nonsense Souness during his playing days.
Asked who is the biggest influence on his current managerial style, Davidson told Sky Sports: "I looked at what they did while I was playing, how they talked to players, how they trained, how they dealt with the media.
"Roy Hodgson was one, tactically his attention to detail was tremendous.
"Billy Davies, Alan Irvine, Paul Sturrock who was here before, I saw their enthusiasm, their passion for the job and their will to win.
"So there's a lot of managers out there that I took good and bad from."
But on his list of glowing references, Davidson skipped the name of Ibrox icon Souness, whom he played under for a short time at Blackburn Rovers.
The 67-year-old in fact sold him within a matter of months to Leicester City - and a sharp reply when asked if he learned much under the Liverpool great told its own story.

Struggling to contain a laugh, Davidson replied: "I didn't take anything from my time with him.
"That's probably one of the managers I didn't. I was probably only there for a short time with Graeme.
"I got injured as well, I snapped my tendon in my ankle at the time.
"So no, I didn't take much from my time with him!"
