Graeme Souness questions Roy Keane's claim about Manchester United striker Anthony Martial

Graeme Souness questioned Roy Keane's claim that Anthony Martial would've been disappointed not to start for Manchester United against Chelsea.

The Frenchman was left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 's starting XI, with Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James selected in a front three.

Martial has struggled for goals in the Premier League, scoring only four times and Keane said the snub would've left him disappointed.

“James has got his confidence up in the last five or six weeks, he’s finding the back of the net," Keane told Sky Sports. "He’s definitely a kid where confidence is vital to him, he’s an honest lad, he’s keen, he’s improved recently with his goals. Again, I think it’s a huge boost for this kid.

"Ole might be going with Rashford through the middle. Rashford has argued a lot over the last year or two that it’s his best position - a lot of people disagree. Martial, without doubt, will be disappointed to be left out because when you’re a player at Man United, these are the games you want to play in. These are the big games."

Souness said: "Martial, I'm not surprised he's left him out. I think he's a young man who has all the talent in the world to succeed at the highest level but will he be disappointed he's not playing today?

"Does he ever show he has a passion about the game or emotional about the game. He's one of those players that will look back and think, 'I could've done so much.' I'm a fan but I'm not a fan."

Keane responded: "He doesn't look like he loves the game, which is always a worry."
