Graeme Souness makes brave claim about Manchester City star Sergio Aguero and Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has insisted that Sergio Aguero would get into the Liverpool team ahead of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino.

The Manchester City striker broke two records with three goals against Aston Villa during their 6-1 win.

Aguero became the highest overseas Premier League goal scorer, surpassing Thierry Henry on 175 goals, before breaking Alan Shearer's record of the most hat-tricks in the Premier League era by notching his 12th in a City shirt.

That sparked debate in the Sky Sports studio as to whether the Argentine number 10 is underrated in the minds of other Premier League fans and pundits.

That was the view of Souness, who insisted Aguero would walk into the teams of La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, plus Premier League leaders Liverpool.

"Who would not take him? Real Madrid would, Barcelona would. You're thinking Liverpool would, he'd get in that front three as well," he told Sky Sports after the match.

"I don't think there is any team in the world he would not get in."

Blood Red: Klopp discusses 'impressive' Firmino after win over Tottenham

That comes as a direct contrast to former Manchester United legend Gary Neville, who claimed Roberto Firmino would walk into any team in the world after his goal against Tottenham on Saturday.

"It was huge. I wouldn't over-analyse it, they were a little sloppy at times in the second half but it's a really big win," Neville told Sky Sports after the match.

"You look at the week they have got now with Manchester United next weekend as well.

"It was difficult at times because they made a couple of mistakes but the left-side of that defence is outstanding. The whole defence is outstanding, the goalkeeper is brilliant.

"They are doing everything that a Championship-winning team should be doing. I can't see anyone stopping them now.

"They are brilliant to watch. Their centre-forward, Firmino, I think any manager in the world would have him as their centre-forward in their team.

"I think he's absolutely incredible, Firmino. Selfless, brilliant, scores goals, sets things up, you can link off him, he makes all the right runs. He's just an outstanding player."
