Graeme Souness hits back at Paul Pogba as feud continues: 'Put your medals on the table!'

Graeme Souness landed the latest blow in his feud with Manchester United star Paul Pogba as he declared: “Put your medals on the table!”

The former Liverpool captain has used his position as a Sky Sports pundit to regularly criticise Pogba’s performances for the Red Devils since his return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016.

The Frenchman offered a dismissive riposte on United’s official podcast this week when asked about those regular barbs, saying: "I didn’t even know who he was.”

But Souness, who won three European Cups and five league titles in just seven seasons at Anfield, has quickly retaliated to that jibe.

Speaking on Sky, the Scot said: “I’m happy with that! The oldest saying in football comes to mind: put your medals on the table. I’ve got a big table.”

Souness was prompted into his retort by fellow former Red Jamie Carragher, who offered a scathing assessment of Pogba’s comments - albeit with tongue placed firmly in cheek.

He said: “There’s been a story about Paul Pogba this morning and we’re quite critical of Paul Pogba but I think when you’re a player you’ve got to be respectful of certain players with certain opinions.

“At times you’ve got to take that criticism on the chin, so to come out and say he’d never heard of Graeme Souness I really thought was below the belt.”
