Graeme Souness delivers brutal England verdict as he delights Tartan Army with 'football ain't coming home' line

Scotland legend Graeme Souness has dismissed England's chances of Euro 2020 glory – insisting "football ain't coming home".

The Liverpool and Rangers icon delivered a withering assessment of his adopted land but talked up his own country as Steve Clarke's side tamed Gareth Southgate's Three Lions, and should have won.

The Wembley clash ended 0-0 but Scotland edged the match, with Stephen O'Donnell and Lyndon Dykes coming so close to making the breakthrough.

The draw has breathed new life into Clarke side's hopes of qualifying from Group D as they refused to bow out of Euro 2020 early.

Bur England were subjected to intense criticism from their fans – who booed at full time – and the pundits.

And Souness waded in on ITV, saying: "Football ain't coming home with that team."

But Souness wasn't done there and was adamant Scotland were the better team, who played with more than just passion.

He added: "Throughout the 90 minutes you saw that Scottish players were putting their bodies on the line. I want to make this point, people will say Scotland were passionate and they worked harder than England. They did that, but they played better.

"Their passing was better, their movement was better.

"Billy Gilmour was the best midfielder on the pitch. Don’t leave thinking it was Scotland's effort that got them to where they were, they were a good team tonight."
