Graeme Jones issues Newcastle United battle cry ahead of Chelsea visit

Graeme Jones is confident that Newcastle United fans will live up to their famous name against Chelsea today.

The Magpies are massive underdogs against the Blues but Jones feels Geordie fans already know they will have a part to play on what could be a testing afternoon.

One of the main themes of Jones' Press conference was to ensure the club that the next manager walks into is a positive one.

When asked about the supporters against Chelsea, with another Wor Flags display set to unfold before kick off, Jones said: "They will have a big role to play.

"But I think the supporters are ready for that.

"I think they are ready to get right behind the group.

"We need 50,000 Geordies and 25 players all together now.

"United.

"Newcastle United.

"Against Chelsea through difficult moments and it needs to be permanent.

"It's non negotiable between now and May.

"We have to be together as a football club, I know they will be.

"We have short-term targets to it before any type of long-term aspirations are going to be reached."
