Graduate advice clinic: CV and job applications – live chat

As thousands of students finish university this summer, thoughts turn to applying for jobs. So, how do you make sure your application stand out? Inventing qualifications or experience, even stretching the truth, is not the way forward. That's despite HEDD's (Higher Education Degree Datacheck) recent survey finding 31% of students know someone who has lied about their qualifications. 37% said it's become a common way to improve chances of getting a job.

For most entry-level roles, the process is the same. You'll need to send a well-researched, tailored application to be in with a chance of getting invited to an interview, and then offered the role.

So if you've got a question about how to write your CV or job application, ask our experts on Thursday 19 June from 2pm to 4pm (BST).

We'll be discussing:

• What to include

• How to tailor your application to each job

• Common mistakes to avoid

• How to make yourself stand out

The Q&A takes place in the comments section below this article. Taking part is easier than ever: you can create a free Guardian account, or log in using your Twitter or Facebook profiles to comment. Alternatively, you can tweet us @GuardianCareers or email your questions to Hannah Friend who can post them for you.
