Grading the Patriots’ 2019 NFL Draft picks

The 2019 NFL Draft is underway in Nashville, and FTW’s lead NFL writer Steven Ruiz is grading picks and offering analysis on how each player will fit with his new team.

No. 32: N’Keal Harry, WR Arizona State

Analysis: The Patriots haven’t had a lot of success drafting receivers, and I’m not sure that’s going to change with this pick. Let’s start with the good: N’Keal Harry is an absolute monster at the catch point and he can make some things happen with the ball in his hands. Now the bad: He can’t get open, so Tom Brady is going to have to put a lot of faith in him if Harry is going to get a ton of targets. There were better players on the board.

GRADE: C-

Round 2

45. Patriots (from LAR): JoeJuan Williams, CB Vanderbilt

Analysis: Joejuan Williams needs to be coached up, but what a better place to land than New England? Bill Belichick will make sure the big, physical corner will play a role he’s comfortable in. His man/zone versatility will be a game-planning asset, which we know Belichick appreciates.

GRADE: B
