Grading the Lions’ 2019 NFL Draft picks

The 2019 NFL Draft is underway in Nashville, and FTW’s lead NFL writer Steven Ruiz is grading picks and offering analysis on how each player will fit with his new team.

No. 8: T.J. Hockenson, TE Iowa

Analysis: Hockenson should develop into a fine tight end … just not one who really makes a difference for the Lions. Those game-changing tight ends are rare. Merely good tight ends are not and should not be taken with a top-10 pick, as Detroit learned the last time it used one on the position.
