Grading the Broncos’ selection of Justin Hollins in NFL draft

The Denver Broncos are putting together a complete draft, filling positions of need while also building toward the future.

The selection of linebacker Justin Hollins is one that should help the team in multiple areas, adding a player that can come in on sub packages and add either a pass rusher off the edge or a guy who can drop back into coverage. He will need to make his mark on special teams in the early portion of his career.

The Broncos were no doubt impressed by Hollins’ performance in the East-West Shrine Game. After posting 10 tackles, 3 of which going for a loss, and two sacks, he was named the game’s MVP.

Combined with the trade to re-acquire Dekoda Watson from the San Francisco 49ers, the Broncos have added depth to their linebacking corps in this draft.

Hollins is the kind of player who could shine in Vic Fangio’s defense at some point in his career. This could be an excellent under-the-radar move for the Broncos.

Grade: B
