Gracie Murray crowned 2021 Kirkcudbright Summer Princess

The crowning of this year’s Kirkcudbright Summer Princess took place on Sunday afternoon.

Although the rise in coronavirus cases forced the town’s Summer Festivities to cancel their plans for a 50th anniversary street party, the ceremony still went ahead outside the parish church.

Princess Gracie Murray was crowned by her mum, Helen, with attendant Hazel Dempster crowned by mum, Louise. The other attendant, Jessica Gourlay, was crowned by her great grandmother, Mary.

The royal party was piped into the church ground by Ian Wemyss and three other pipers of Kirkcudbright and District Pipe Band. They played a tune Ian had composed specially to commemorate 50 years since Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities was formed.
