Grace period for some bill payments extended 1 more month in Japan

Grace period for some bill payments extended 1 more month in Japan

Major electricity and city gas companies in Japan will extend their grace period for payments by one more month. As economic activity has remained stagnant due to countermeasures for the new coronavirus, all customers who have declared it difficult to make payments will be allowed to delay, in principle.

The grace period for electricity rates measured in March and April and gas rates measured between February and April will be three months, or one month longer than now. The period for both electricity and gas checked in May will be two months. Payment deadlines for June bills will be extended by one month.

The companies accept applications over phone and internet.
