Grace on ITV: What it's about, who's in the cast and filming locations for new drama

If crime dramas are your thing, then ITV may have just the show for you.

The highly-anticipated series Grace is the channel's latest offering and it begins tonight (Sunday) at 8pm - straight after the Dancing On Ice final.

Acclaimed screenwriter and Endeavour creator, Russell Lewis, has adapted Peter James' international bestseller, Dead Simple, his debut novel from the award-winning Roy Grace series.

John Simm takes the lead role of the tenacious detective who is tormented by the disappearance of his wife six years ago.

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace has been demoted and should be working on cold cases. However, when a local property developer goes missing on a stag night, Detective Sergeant Branson comes to Grace for advice, prompting Grace to join the investigation.

As Grace's instincts help unravel the events of the fateful stag night, it becomes clear that some know more than they are letting on – and a missing person's inquiry may be something more sinister.

The series will air in tow separate two-hour specials starting this Sunday.

So, who is in the cast?

John Simm takes the role of DS Roy Grace who viewers will probably best recognise from Life on Mars where he played Sam Tyler and Doctor Who's The Master, as well as films Human Traffic and 24 Party People.

Richie Campbell (ITV)

He is joined by Richie Campbell as DS Glenn Branson who is known for his roles in The Frankenstein Chronicles, Top Boy and Anuvahood. He also recently starred in BBC One crime thriller, Liar.

Rakie Ayola also stars as ACC Vosper whose previous roles have been in Holby City, Shetland, Black Mirror and No Offence.

Stage star Brad Morrison portrays DC Nicholl alongside, Scarborough’s Rebecca Scrogs as Ari and Vera's Alexander Cobb as Kevin Spinella.

Viewers will probably be quick to spot that Grace was filmed on location in Brighton.
