GQ Men of the Year Awards 2019: Richard Madden and Taron Egerton top winners list

Good Omens’ Michael Sheen played host at the GQ Men of the Year Awards as A-List stars picked up honours.

David Beckham, Sir Ian McKellen, Bodyguard’s Richard Madden and Nicole Kidman were all crowned winners.

Blondie icon Debbie Harry presented her pal Iggy Pop with the Lifetime Achievement award, while Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge gave her Hot Priest Andrew Scott the Standout Performance gong.

Singer Sir Tom Jones presented the Icon award to Kylie Minogue, who is dating GQ’s creative director, Paul Solomons.

Radio1’s Greg James presented the World Cup-winning England One Day cricket team with the Sportsmen award.

The England women’s football team were given the Inspiration title by TV presenter Gabby Logan, after their success at the World Cup this summer.

Elton John’s long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin handed Best Actor to Rocketman star Taron Egerton, while Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid gave Tory MP and social media enthusiast Rory Stewart Politician of the Year.

George Ezra was named Best Live Act while Stormzy won Best Solo Artist. Sam Smith and Rita Ora also presented awards.

Climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg recorded a thank-you for her Game Changer award, after sailing to the US.

Artist Ai Weiwei and rockers The 1975 also got gongs.
