GP surgery reception had 'deep clean' after patient with flu symptoms sent for coronavirus tests

Part of a GP surgery underwent a 'deep clean' as a precaution against coronavirus.

The reception of Failsworth Group Practice was sealed off after a patient with flu symptoms visited the surgery on Monday.

The patient was sent away to be tested for coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

Health bosses said the practice remained open for appointments while a precautionary clean took place.

A spokesperson for the Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said there were no confirmed cases of coronavirus at Failsworth Group Practice.

The CCG did not provide a further comment.

The Manchester Evening News has contacted the Failsworth Group Practice for a response.

So far there have been 23 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Greater Manchester- three in Bolton, three in Bury, three in Manchester, two in Stockport, one in Tameside, five in Oldham and three in Wigan.

There have been no confirmed cases in Salford and Rochdale.

Anyone with symptoms or concerns about coronavirus should contact NHS 111 .
