GP receptionist shares rude things all callers say - and they're very repetitive

A GP receptionist has revealed the rude and annoying things patients say when they call up - and they're so common you might be guilty of them without realising.

We've all been there, on hold when you call up bang on the minute the surgery opens - as if hundreds of people managed to beat you to it in the seconds it took your phone to connect.

When you get through, you might be tempted to say how long you've been on hold, or ask how many people are answering the phones, but spare a thought for the poor receptionist.

Sharing the story anonymously, the receptionist said that they get asked those questions constantly, and while the caller utters the words the hold queue continues to grow.

Sharing their story anonymously, the receptionist said the first question they dread is: "God is there only one of you answering the phone?"

To which the woman replies: "No there are around seven of us and we aren't just sat around drinking tea."

Another classic the receptionist shared was when people say: "Finally, I've been on hold for two hours."

But she said: "We can see how long you've been on hold and it's not two hours.

She also said that people get frustrated when they can't speak to their GP immediately.

The woman explained that some say: "Why can't you just put me through to the doctor?"

To which she replied: "There are about 200 patients always waiting for a call back."

She also said that some people tell her "you're just a receptionist I want to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about", as The Sun reports.
