Gower road closed in both directions after 'serious' crash

A road in Gower has closed in both directions after a "serious" crash.

The incident happened on the  A4118 between St Nicholas Church, Nicholaston, and Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park, Penmaen.

The Swansea road was closed at around 1.30pm on Thursday, January 23 and police say it will remain closed for the next few hours.

It was originally thought to be an overturned tanker but police later confirmed that two cars were involved and asked people to avoid the area.

A spokeswoman from South Wales Police said: "We are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision between two cars on the A4118 Penmaen.

"The road is currently closed and we would ask people to avoid the area at this time."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called today (Thursday 23 January) at approximately 12.30pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A4118 near Penmaen, Swansea.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance, where the patient made their own way to hospital.”
