Gower Fresh Christmas Trees has announced it's ditching its Pumpkin Patch entry fee this year due to the current climate. The popular Swansea-based farm, which launched its first Pick Your Own Pumpkin event in 2018, shared the update with visitors on social media.
Famous for its Christmas trees, which allow guests to wander the plantations and pick their very own to be cut, the farm is also behind the amazing Rhossili Sunflowers and, this year, the picture-perfect lavender fields which offered the opportunity to grab an Instagram-worthy snap. And while it's a popular site throughout winter and summer, the farm's autumnal options are also a firm favourite among visitors. As well as ticketed Halloween events, Pick Your Own Pumpkins is returning this year on October 1 and 2 before reopening between October 7 and October 31.

Unlike last year, however, there will be no entry fee. The owner of the farm, Robert Morgan, says the booking fee, which was introduced during the pandemic, has been scrapped as the cost of living has escalated.
Keen to give something back, Rob told us he just wants to see families enjoy the day out. Last year the booking fee cost £5 a car, but this year visitors can just turn up. Prices of pumpkins vary on the size, with costs ranging from £1 right up to £12 for the larger ones.
Gower Fresh initially shared the news on their Facebook page, on September 6, they wrote: "We decided not to charge for entry to PYO PATCH year with the current climate."
They added: "Tickets are needed for entertainment at top site. All PYO is at bottom, keep eye out for floodlit lantern picking times and dates, these will be mainly weekdays as weekends can get busy so best time to come weekdays. Pumpkins are looking great so many sizes and colours."
For those thinking of heading down, the farm has shared more details on its website. What's more, in 2022 the farm will be open longer for "flood-lit evening picking sessions".
A statement on the website reads: "We are going to have a large variety of various types of pumpkins and different sizes available to our customers, and this year we will be open longer with our flood-lit evening picking sessions.
"No Booking is required for PYO, please head to our Car Park just down from our main entrance, Refreshments will also be available at our PYO Field. We just about kept up with the demand for thousands of pumpkins.
