Govt warns against sharing Lisa Blackpink's whiskey ads

Blackpink superstar Lisa Manoban (Lalisa Manoban Facebook account)

The Office of the Alcohol Control Committee is considering action against people who post and share images of Blackpink superstar Lisa Manoban promoting a brand of whiskey.

Committee director Niphon Chinanonthawes was assigned by the Department of Disease Control to investigate anyone who propagates the forbidden images on social media, according to Post Today.

Thailand's homegrown K-pop superstar has been appointed as an Asian brand ambassador for a famous Scotch whiskey company currently conducting a global publicity campaign. Pictures and video showing Lisa promoting the spirit have been widely circulated on social media.

The kingdom bans all advertisements for and depictions of alcohol across all media. Violators can be fined up to 500,000 baht or sentenced to one year in jail, or both.
