PRAYAGRAJ: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the state government was working on a plan to provide affordable houses to Asha workers, lawyers, teachers, etc., as well as to the poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on the land freed from mafia dons who had grabbed it under previous government.
The CM laid the foundation of construction of PMAY houses in Sangam city on Sunday on the land freed from ex-MP Atiq Ahmed.
The CM said, “Gone are the days when the mafia said ‘Jo zameen khali hai, wo hamari hai’. Now, the government is taking back the land grabbed by goons who enjoyed protection of the previous government.”
This is the difference between good and bad governance, he said. “The poor could have been given houses and other benefits by earlier governments but the funds provided by the central government went into the pockets of corrupt netas. It is now being found in possession of businessman closely associated with Samajwadi Party (SP) and is proof of political corruption,” Yogi added.
“Our state president had termed ‘Samajwadi Itr’ as ‘Samajwadi badboo’ because it was made from the money meant for the poor. The same money is being found in the walls of the businessman’s house,” he said.
The CM said the city would have a new National Law University named after the first President Dr Rajendra Prasad.
He thanked the Prime Minister for the decision of administering vaccine to youngsters in 15 to 18 age group and booster dose for corona warriors.
The CM also attended a function marking the 150th year of Kayasth Pathshala at KP community hall.
Terming the KP Trust as a community of intellectuals, he said, “Whenever there is conflict between sword and pen, the latter wins.”
He also remembered the first President Dr Rajendra Prasad and how he attended the opening of revamped Somnath temple despite opposition of then government.
“Today two ideologies are working in the country, one wants to forget values and tradition but the second wants progress while protecting them,” he added.
