
The government announced yesterday that the country has possession of a total of about 7,431,000 masks. Whether they can be supplied to the public is being examined.
Masks retained as a preparatory measure against a new strain of influenza and masks for daily business operations were among those counted.
In response to the widespread new coronavirus outbreak, the opposition party is working toward an official announcement regarding the number of masks that the government has in its possession.
The Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry reported that each quarantine office across the country has about 188,000 masks and about 20,000 protective suits. These numbers are included in the national total.
