Govt's tall claims of 'Swachh Bharat' exposed, says Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

KANPUR: Ahead of the high-voltage third phase of assembly polls in Kanpur, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday attacked the BJP government over poor sanitation in the city, saying all the tall claims of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' have been exposed.

"This is the government of the rich. It has nothing to do with the poor. So make Congress win," she told mediapersons after a roadshow, in which a sea of people dominated the streets.

The roadshow started from Begumpurwa in the Cantt assembly constituency at 3.38pm and ended at 5.15pm after she had 'darshan' at Sotewala temple in Kidwai Nagar assembly constituency.

Seated atop a moving vehicle and clad in a grey suit, she waved to the jostling crowd of people lined up on both sides of the road and also shook hands with many enthusiastic voters.

The candidates of the Cantt, Kidwai Nagar and Kalyanpur assembly constituencies accompanied her during the roadshow of about four kilometres.

Priyanka's roadshow, resounded with slogans like 'Priyanka nahi ye aandhi hai', 'Priyanka zindabad, Shaheed ki putri...zindabad'.

At one point, she made the vehicle stop after she came across a supporter, who was standing with a black and white childhood photograph of hers.

As soon as Priyanka saw the supporter, she pointed towards him and called him near her vehicle and took a picture from him. When the roadshow started from Begumpurwa Safed Colony, she was accompanied by Neha Tiwari, candidate of Kalyanpur assembly constituency, and Sohail Ansari of Cantt assembly. Priyanka's convoy thereafter reached Kidwai Nagar , where candidate Ajay Kapoor welcomed her.
