The ACT government has published artist impressions and floorplans for the Canberra Hospital expansion, and is calling for public feedback.

The expansion will be built on the corner of Gilmore Crescent and Palmer Street and will include a relocated helipad.

Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said ACT Health had engaged with clinicians and local residents in preparation for the first draft plans of the expansion.

"The new facility will be located at the heart of the campus and we want a design that will be open and welcoming to all - delivering high-quality public spaces and facilities for patients, staff and visitors," she said.

Major Projects Canberra chief projects officer Duncan Edgehill said the expansion was the largest investment in ACT's health infrastructure since self-government and more than $500 million was going towards the project.

"It will create around 500 jobs for Canberrans during construction, supporting local industry and providing opportunities for local trainees and apprentices," he said.

The expansion will be built by developer Multiplex, The formal application for the expansion is due to be lodged in March 2021.

First draft designs are available at hospitalexpansion.act.gov.au.

Canberrans have until February 24, 2021 to give feedback on the design via yoursay.act.gov.au/hospitalexpansion.
