AHMEDABAD: The state government has decided to introduce diploma courses on information and communication technology (ICT) in eight government polytechnics of the state, education minister Jitu Vaghani informed on Tuesday. Vaghani said that the ICT courses will be started by the education department at government polytechnics in Vadnagar, Amreli, Morbi, Rajkot, Palanpur, Surat, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
Vaghani said that the government has decided that instead of 3%, specially abled persons or ‘divyangs’ will have 4% of seats for them. He further said that an additional 3000 ‘vidya sahayaks’ or assistant teachers will be appointed. Of these, 1,300 will be appointed for classes 1 to 5 and 2,000 for classes 6 to 8.
